Our Christian Value

This half term we will be focusing on 'Trust' as our Christian value.

okbajee Login – Secure Access to Your Casino Account

Trust means knowing that the people around us will be kind, honest, and keep us safe. When we trust someone, we believe they will listen to us, treat us fairly, and do what they say they will do. Trust helps us feel confident, valued, and secure, and it is an important part of building positive relationships in our school community.

You can find a copy of the Trust handout here

Trust in the lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.

Proverbs 3:5–6

 Context

Our context this half term is 'What's on my plate?' under the whole school umbrella of Healthy Habits, Healthy Growth with Health and Wellbeing as the main driving AoLE.

How to Eat A Healthy Diet in 3 Simple Steps

In this topic, we will explore where our food comes from and how it reaches our plates. Children will learn about foods grown locally and around the world, investigate farming and food journeys, and compare what we eat today with diets from the past. The children will also be continuing to develop their Welsh language skills through daily Helpwr Heddiw sessions as well as their weekly Welsh lessons.

Reading is an extremely important part of the children's learning. We will take every opportunity to immerse the children in books and stories and we will also take part in a guided reading session at least once per week.

Planning

Weekly planning will be available on Google classroom, so you can see what the children have been learning about that week. Please see the Inquiry planning document for our topic.

Four Purposes

The four purposes are that all children and young people will be:

Ambitious, Capable Learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives.

Enterprising, Creative Contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and work.

Ethical, Informed citizens who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world.

Healthy, Confident individuals who are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society.

Internet Safety

At St Mellon's, we promote the use of 'SMART' rules daily, as we know how important it is to stay safe online.

Please encourage your children to use these 'SMART' rules at home too.

Online Safety for Parents & Children | Ranelagh Primary School

As part of the Curriculum for Wales your child will discuss and learn how we can all stay safe online and about the dangers we may face on the internet.  We get involved with national Internet Safety Day, which is held on the second Tuesday every February each year.

Jigsaw and PSHE

PSHE - Jigsaw - Daubeney Primary SchoolJigsaw is a whole-school approach and embodies a positive philosophy and creative teaching and learning activities to nurture children’s development as compassionate and well-rounded human beings as well as building their capacity to learn. Jigsaw is a comprehensive and completely original PSE programme for the whole primary school from ages 3-11.  The Jigsaw Programme also delivers Relationships and Sexuality Education. Ensuring it meets the requirements set out in the RSE Code for Phases 1 and 2. Life cycles and human reproduction will be taught in a sensitive manner, age related in all schools in Wales. This means that all learners must receive this education. There is no right to withdraw from RSE in the new curriculum.

Jigsaw has two main aims for all children:

• To build their capacity for learning

• To equip them for life

Jigsaw brings together PSE, Relationships and Sexuality Education, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development. It is designed to support a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time at their own stage of learning. There are six Puzzles (half-term units of work) and each year group is taught one lesson per week. All lessons are delivered in an age- and stage-appropriate way so that they meet children’s needs.
