Class 3

Croeso i Dosbarth 3!

Teacher: Mrs Lawley        Teaching Assistant: Mrs Owens

Summer 2024

Our value this half term is 'respect'.

Do to others as you would have them do to you.  Luke 6:31

Our Creative Habit of Mind this half term is Imaginative Izzy.

Our context this term is all about sustainability.

Our enquiry question is "How can we keep our oceans amazing?"

We will begin our context with a visit to Bristol Aquarium to see all the amazing marine creatures that inhabitat our oceans inspiring us to find out why we need to keep our oceans amazing. We also hope to walk the Welsh coastal path from Cardiff Bay to Penarth to see our amazing ocean for ourselves.

In our context we will be learning about

  • The Welsh coastline and its features.
  • The world's oceans.
  • Different marine habitats.
  • Marine food webs.
  • The water cycle.
  • Forces - buoyancy.
  • Our impact on the ocean;
    • How we use the oceans.
    • Plastic pollution.
    • Over fishing.

We will exit our context by creating a fish sculpture with explanation of the effect of plastic pollution and over fishing on our oceans .

Spring Term

Spring 2

Our value this half term is 'courage'.

Joshua 1: 9 says...

"Here is what I am commanding you to do. Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord your God. I will be with you everywhere you go."

Our Creative Habit of Mind this half term is 'Collaboration'.

This half term class 3 will be looking at how our school has changed over time. With a focus on what it would have been like at St Mellon's CiW Primary when the school first opened over 150 years ago. To help us experience for ourselves what school would have been like for the first St Mellon's pupils, we are hoping to go on a trip to St Fagans. This will help us be able to compare the school life of past pupils with our school life now. We will be playing our own part in the history of the school, by putting together a time capsule, so that children of the future will know what life was like us as we start a new chapter in the school's history at our beauitful new site.

Here's what we have been up to so far this half term:
